PhD candidate

microbial sensing, microswimmer motion, cellular and molecular biology, bio-physics

Carlotta Aurora Lupatelli, begun her interdisciplinary PhD project at Institut Sophia Agrobiotech (ISA) and at Institut de Physique de Nice (INPHYNI) in October 2021 after obtaining an EUR-Life scholarship (Université Côte d’Azur). By the means of a bio-physical approach, her research activitis address the investigation of the molecular strategies adopted by Phytophthora pathogenic species, with the outcome of providing scientific insights for future development of innovative protection strategies. Carlotta successfully graduated in 2018 at University of Perugia (Italy), in Food Science Technology and obtained in 2021 a Master degree at Université Cote D’Azur in Biocontrol Solutions for Plant Health. During her Master, she performed two internships at Institut Sophia Agrobiotech, where she developped and mastered her skills in cellular biology analysis applied to the study of oomycetes and aphids-plant interactions. Such academic path, allowed her to gain expertise in both agronomy and biology. The current research activity of Carlotta mainly focuses on the characterization of the proteomic repertoire of zoospores employed to sense plant host and environmental stimuli prior to plant colonization. The work at Institut de Physique de Nice enables her to characterize the motion response of zoospores to stimuli by using microfluidic approaches."
